COS’È AGOSTO IN PELLICCIA?

“Agosto in pelliccia” è un cortometraggio che ci rende partecipi di uno spaccato di vita delicato e crudo al tempo stesso, pregno di atmosfere nostagliche, pulsioni represse e scoperta di sé.

Due fratelli adolescenti abbandonati a loro stessi da genitori assenti si trovano ad accudire la nonna malata di Alzheimer. Il rapporto tra i due ragazzi sfocia così in una frustrante e repressa ricerca d’intimità, dove entrano in gioco dinamiche di dominazione e sottomissione, proibizione e desiderio.

L'abbandono a se stessi, la repressione per i propri desideri e la limitata e castrante vita sociale, indissolubile dal contesto famigliare, emergono silenziosamente in gesti quotidiani, dialoghi tesi e sorrisi forzati. Le atmosfere sono caratterizzate dalla nostalgia e dal movimento sonnolento di un tempo liquido che grava attorno ai due fratelli protagonisti. Ma l’immobilità è solo superficiale: nelle profondità c’è una tensione che cresce e che è destinata ad esplodere.

OBIETTIVI

Il cortometraggio ha l'obiettivo di stimolare riflessioni sull'identità di genere, sull'orientamento sessuale, sulla dignità sociale e sull'isolamento. Queste riflessioni sono utili a comprendere l'Altro abbattendo pregiudizi e discriminazioni, e ci aiutano ad esplorare un'interiorità e un'identità da scoprire, lati nascosti, pulsioni represse, sentimenti ingabbiati.Il mezzo artistico cinematografico permette un coinvolgimento distaccato in cui la visione di questo spaccato crudo e clautrofobico rivela situazioni personali, intime e quotidiane.

NOTE DI REGIA

La regia vuole essere intima, interna alla situazione come fossimo nelle stanze assieme ai personaggi. Vuole immergerci nei sensi, farci sentire gli odori, assaporare i gusti, sentire sotto le dita ciò che i personaggi toccano, sfiorano e stringono.
Sentiremo la loro tensione tramite le inquadrature, percepiremo la loro solitudine con composizioni isolate, come se i personaggi appartenessero a una loro dimensione privata. Le atmosfere cupe, nostalgiche, immobili e a tratti frenetiche troveranno forma grazie alle luci e a una color palette studiata nel dettaglio assieme al direttore della fotografia Roberto Gallina.

CHI SIAMO

Alessandro Rocca (sceneggiatore e regista)

Filmmaker e presidente della DestinationFilm, ha scritto e diretto cinque cortometraggi tra cui il più noto e premiato, “Bentornato Futuro!” (2020), selezionato e recensito in diversi Festival Nazionali e Internazionali, premiato al Rolling Ideas Film Festival e al Top Indie Film Awards, dove si è aggiudicato un premio per miglior sceneggiatura e miglior regia.

Martina Mele (sceneggiatrice e aiuto regia)

Filmmaker e membro della DestinationFilm, ha scritto e diretto quattro cortometraggi tra cui il più recente, “L’usignolo sul mare”(2020), selezionato a Festival Internazionali, premiato al Caorle Film festival e all’International Film Festival Manhattan.

Attualmente è in pre-produzione con il suo nuovo cortometraggio “AMNIOS” co-prodotto da First Child e dalla casa di produzione RedString, con Diego Loreggian come Creative Producer.

Roberto Gallina (dop e produttore)

Fonda la casa di produzione cinematografia Videocrazia nella quale lavora a moltissimi progetti sul territorio. Opera da anni come tecnico per film e serie tv, e come video assist per uno spot Lamborghini. Nel 2018 vince il premio come “Best music video” all’Intuendo International Film Festival. Come dop firma diversi lavori prodotti dalla propria azienda per privati ed aziende.

Ginevra Atti (producer)

Dopo la laurea in beni culturali nel 2019, ottiene il Certificato in Business and Management of Entertainment presso la “University of California di Los Angeles”. Attualmente lavora come Assistente di Produzione per la Casa di Produzione Skydance Animation.

Roberta Pazi (direttrice di produzione)

Vicepresidente di DestinationFilm e Vicepresindeti e responsabile della Formazione di Ferrara Off Teatro, idea, organizza e tiene laboratori di pratiche teatrali dal 1998. È inoltre un'attrice teatrale e cinematografica premiata in manifestazioni come il Manhattan Film Festival per Milgior attrice protaginista.

Pietro Bovi (attore)

Attore professionista, studia recitazione all’Accademia Teatro Azione di Roma, dove si diploma nel 2019. Protagonista in spettacoli teatrali e cortometraggi, esordisce al cinema nei panni di uno degli antagonisti del film di Marco Cassini “Oltre la bufera” (acquistato da Rai e disponibile su Rai Play)

Il film partecipa a festival nazionali e internazionali, dal Marocco al Messico. Pietro partecipa alla Festa del Cinema di Roma come ospite sia per "Oltre la bufera" che per il cortometraggio "Irreversibile", opera prima di Matteo De Liberato premiata all'interno del circuito festivaliero.

SOSTENITORI DEL PROGETTO

Il progetto ha il sostegno di Videocrazia, una produzione video Trentina, che nella persona di Roberto Gallina (DOP del film e fondatore di Videocrazia) co-produce il cortometraggio, occupandosi della parte tecnica e mettendo a disposizione diverse maestranze.

Il Comune di Fiscaglia sostiene il progetto con un contributo economico, che andrà a coprire parte delle spese di noleggio e vitto e alloggio della troupe.

DOTT.SSA MARTA LEONI (psichiatra)

La dottoressa Leoni ha sostenuto il progetto nella fase di scrittura. Mettendo a disposizione le sue conoscenze ci ha aiutato a creare dinamiche famigliari e personaggi con un profondo spessore psicologico, approfondendo i rapporti tra fratelli e il rapporto con la nonna malata di Alzheimer.

ARCI ha sostenuto il progetto nella creazione del crowdfunding e lo sostiene tuttora con il suo network su Produzioni dal Basso.

COME SPENDEREMO I SOLDI DEL CROWFUNDING?

I fondi raccolti con il crowdfunding serviranno a:

• Noleggiare attrezzatura cinematografica professionale per le riprese e l’illluminazione del set (camera, lenti e luci)
• Realizzare montaggio e correzione del colore
• Retribuire gli attori 

Nel progetto lavoreranno eccellenti professionisti del settore, e il nostro obiettivo è sia pagare adeguatamente tutte le persone che collaboreranno al film, sia fornire loro i mezzi tecnici necessari per fare un lavoro di alta qualità.

WHAT IS “AUGUST SKIN”?

“August Skin” is a short film that shows a raw and delicate depiction of life, full of nostalgic atmospheres, repressed impulses and self-discovery. 

Two teenage brothers, neglected by their absent parents, find themselves looking after their grandmother with Alzheimer’s. Their relationship ends up resulting in a repressed and frustrated search for intimacy, where dynamics of domination vs. submission, and prohibition vs. desire come into play. 

The neglect, the repression of sexual desires, and the limited social life, constrained within the household, silently emerge as everyday gestures, tense dialogs and forced smiles. The atmospheres are characterized by the nostalgia and sluggish movement of a liquid time that weighs on the two main characters. Though, the stillness is only superficial: deep down there is a crescent tension, bound to explode.

GOALS

The short film’s goal is to provoke and incite conversations about gender identity, sexuality, social dignity, and isolation. These topics are critical to understand the individual as a whole, without prejudice and discrimination. They help explore the depths of the identity yet to be discovered, the unknown repressed impulses, and locked up emotions. The cinematic artistic medium allows a detached engagement, where this raw and claustrophobic insight of stagnant life reveals deeply intimate and personal familiar situations. 

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

The direction will be intimate, lowered deeply within the action, as if the viewers were in the room, right next to the characters. A full sensory immersion will allow the viewers to smell, taste, and feel beneath their fingers, everything that the characters smell, taste and feel in the picture. The tension will emerge from the shots, and the solitude will be perceived through isolating compositions, as if the characters inhabited their own private dimension. The dark, nostalgic, still and sometimes frantic atmospheres, will be shaped by the lights and a carefully curated color palette, created by the talented Director of Photography Roberto Gallina. 

THE TEAM

Alessandro Rocca (Screenwriter and Director)

Filmmaker and president of DestinationFilm, he has written and directed five short films. His most recent “Bentornato Futuro!” (2020) was featured and selected in various national and international film festivals, including “Rolling Ideas Film Festival” and “Top Indie Film Awards”, where it won the Best Screenplay and Best Director awards.

Martina Mele (Screenwriter and 1st AD)

Filmmaker and founding member of DestinationFilm, she has written and directed four short films. Her most recent “L’usignolo sul mare” (2020) has been selected for several international film festivals, including “Carole Film Festival” and “International Film Festival Manhattan”.

Currently her newest short “AMNIOS” is in pre-production, co-produced by “First Child” and “RedString”, with Diego Loreggian as Creative Producer.

Roberto Gallina (DoP and Producer)

Founder of the production company “Videocrazia”, he works on many projects in the national territory. For several years he worked in the camera department for film and tv shows, like a Lamborghini commercial. In 2018 he won the “Best Music Video” award at the “Intuendo International Film Festival”. Since the opening of his own business he has been working in several projects as DoP for companies and individuals.

Ginevra Atti (Producer)

After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Cultural Heritage at University of Bologna, she moved to Los Angeles to study “Business and Management  of Entertainment” at UCLA. After gaining some experience as Production Assistant working on some independent film sets and events - such as VIFF Immersed 2019 at the Vancouver International Film Festival - she moved back to Europe where she currently works as Production Assistant as Skydance Animation. 

Roberta Pazi (2nd AD)

Vice-president of DestinationFilm and VP of Ferrara Off Teatro, she has been conceiving and organizing theater workshops since 1998. She is also a cinema and theater trained actress, who has won “Best Leading Actress” in festivals such as the “Manhattan Film Festival”.

Pietro Bovi (Actor)

He is a professional trained actor, who studied at the “Accademia Teatro Azione” in Rome, where he graduated in 2019. He has played the lead on several theater plays and short films. He made his debut on the big screen as one of the antagonists of Marco Cassini’s film “Oltre la bufera” (picture bought by Rai and available on Rai Play). The movie has been selected in several national and international film festivals, from Marocco to Mexico. Pietro has been invited as guest at the “Festa del Cinema di Roma” for the film “Oltre la bufera” and the short film “Irreversibile” by Matteo De Liberato who has been awarded in many film festivals.

SUPPORTERS OF THE PROJECT 

The project is supported by Videocrazia, a video production company in Trento, founded by Roberto Gallina (DoP) who is co-producing the short. He is responsible for the technical aspects of the film, and the availability of part of the equipment and some crew members of his department. 

The Municipality of Fiscaglia supports the project with an economic contribution that will cover part of the equipment rental, food, and housing for cast and crew. 

DR. MARTA LEONI (Psychiatrist)

Dr. Leoni supported the project during the writing phase. By making her knowledge available, she helped create a truthful representation of family dynamics and characters with real psychological depth, which especially transpires in the relationships between the two brothers and the grandmother with Alzheimer’s.

ARCI has supported the project especially in the creation of the crowdfunding campaign, and keeps supporting the projects with its network on "Produzioni dal Basso”.

HOW WILL THE MONEY BE SPENT?

The funds raised will be used to:

- Rent  professional film equipment for shooting and lighting of the set (camera, lenses and lights).

-  Post Production (Editing and Color Correction)

- Cast and crew compensation

The crew includes talented industry professionals. Our goal is to both fairly compensate everyone who will work on the short, and provide the best equipment to ensure high quality work.
