PAN BELUS ― Progetto di trasformazione da campo coltivato ad area naturale protetta e parco artistico

OBIETTIVO GENERALE

La storia ha avuto inizio con un baratto: il nostro camper in cambio di questo ettaro di terra.

L'obiettivo principale è la realizzazione di un’area naturale protetta, privata, non edificabile, che non sarà mai edificata, della quale diventeremo i custodi; le opere d’arte saranno parte attiva dell’ecosistema nel quale si inseriscono, diventando quindi una riserva artistico-naturale. A partire dai materiali adoperati, le tecniche e la conformazione delle opere realizzate, si intende promuovere lo sviluppo di una nuova e specifica corrente artistica che metta materialmente al centro le specie altre - diverse dall’uomo. Le opere d’arte saranno quindi ideate per essere sinergiche e con un tempo di vita definito dai ritmi naturali. L’area sarà quindi un luogo dove l’arte è al servizio della natura.

Siamo due artisti visivi che insieme nutrono da diversi anni il sogno di generare questo progetto ibrido tra oasi naturalistica e parco scultoreo, un luogo di natura e cultura che possa accogliere nuove sperimentazioni di coesistenza interspecie.

LUOGO

Abbiamo identificato un terreno, un ettaro circa, al momento utilizzato per lo sfalcio del fieno, che sarebbe perfetto come punto di partenza del progetto.

Il campo è situato a metà strada tra due poli d’attrazione:

• Parco Naturale interregionale del Sasso Simone e Simoncello, importante area naturale protetta situata nel cuore del Montefeltro
• Pennabilli (RN) una cittadina molto interessante dal punto di vista delle attività culturali ed artistiche dell’areale grazie ai suoi diversi festival di musica, teatro ed ecosostenibilità oltre che per l’eredità lasciata da Tonino Guerra sotto forma di opere d’arte disseminate sul territorio.

Pennabilli è anche un importante polo per la Spiritualità per diverse religioni.
In età remote è stata frontiera e luogo di incontro/scontro tra culture diverse come quella Celtica e quella Romana.

Proprio dall’incontro di queste culture trae ispirazione il nome del progetto, troviamo particolarmente interessante la teoria che vede le due rupi che cingono la cittadina di Pennabilli rispettivamente "Penna" e "Billi", come la trasposizione degli dèi pagani PAN (divinità delle terre selvagge della tradizione greco/romana) e BELUS (divinità della luce della tradizione Celtica).

PROGETTO

PAN BELUS 

L'oggetto della proposta è la valorizzazione di tutti gli elementi che concorrono alla eterogeneità e alle peculiarità di questo ambiente, abitato da specie vegetali e animali e destinato al rifugio, alla riproduzione e alla sosta della fauna selvatica e della flora.

A partire dallo studio e dalla ricerca degli habitat e delle specie presenti nell'area di interesse, si intende individuare e tutelare gli stessi, attraverso azioni sinergiche, frutto di una collaborazione attiva tra artisti e naturalisti.

Verranno organizzate residenze artistiche durante le quali si inviteranno artisti nazionali ed internazionali a trascorrere un periodo di tempo nel campo che verrà attrezzato con strutture temporanee atte ad accoglierli, luogo in cui si realizzeranno altresì le opere in situ.
Artisti di fama internazionale ed emergenti - ciascuno dei quali messo a confronto con un naturalista locale, in grado di suggerire un percorso e delle soluzioni creative sostenibili - realizzeranno opere sinergiche di arte ambientale; con tale definizione si intende la volontà di non realizzare opere d’arte semplicemente prodotte con materiale naturale/sostenibile ma l’impegno di produrre opere d'arte in grado di convivere e apportare benefici agli ecosistemi del parco.

L’arte sarà quindi lo strumento principe per arricchire e rendere unica l’area naturale in questione. Gli interventi saranno temporanei e totalmente reversibili, capaci di vivere con la natura e all’occorrenza morire per rinascere anno dopo anno.

L'arte come habitat vero e proprio, come parte integrante della natura.
Le opere così concepite contribuiranno a rendere l’area un luogo di scambio culturale e di divulgazione scientifica, un contesto per giovanissimi e adulti, per residenti e fruitori occasionali, curiosi e cultori della materia.

PAN BELUS mira a un futuro di crescita in estensione e a divenire una rete che unisce vari territori della Valmarecchia in un unico corridoio di conservazione e creazione.

• Piantumazione di alberi e piante erbacee endemiche
• Ricerche su campo preliminari da parte dei Naturalisti
• Gestione ed organizzazione della prima residenza artistica

GENERAL GOAL

The story began with a barter: our camper van in exchange for this hectare of land.

The main objective is the creation of a protected, private, unbuildable nature reserve, of which we will become the custodians; the works of art will be an active part of the ecosystem in which they are embedded, thus becoming an artistic-natural reserve. Starting with the materials used, the techniques and the conformation of the works created, the intention is to promote the development of a new and specific artistic current that materially places other species - other than man - at the centre. The works of art will therefore be designed to be synergetic and with a life time defined by natural rhythms. The area will therefore be a place where art is at the service of nature.

We are two visual artists who have nurtured together for several years the dream of generating this hybrid project between a naturalistic oasis and a sculptural park, a place of nature and culture that can accommodate new experiments in interspecies coexistence.

LOCATION

We identified a piece of land, about one hectare, currently used for mowing hay, which would be perfect as a starting point for the project.

The field is located halfway between two centres of attraction:

• Parco Naturale interregionale del Sasso Simone e Simoncello, an important protected natural area located in the heart of Montefeltro
• Pennabilli (RN) a very interesting town in terms of cultural and artistic activities in the area thanks to its various festivals of music, theatre and eco-sustainability as well as the legacy left by Tonino Guerra in the form of works of art scattered throughout the territory.

Pennabilli is also an important centre for spirituality for various religions.
In ancient times it has been a frontier and a meeting/clash point between cultures as diverse as the Celtic and Roman.

It is precisely from the encounter between these cultures that the name of the project draws its inspiration. We find particularly interesting the theory that sees the two cliffs that encircle the town of Pennabilli, "Penna" and "Billi" respectively, as the transposition of the pagan gods PAN (divinity of the wild lands in the Greek/Roman tradition) and BELUS (divinity of light in the Celtic tradition).

PROJECT

PAN BELUS The aim of the proposal is to enhance all the elements that contribute to the heterogeneity and peculiarities of this environment, inhabited by plant and animal species and intended as a refuge, breeding ground and resting place for wildlife and flora.

Starting from the study and research of the habitats and species present in the area of interest, the intention is to identify and protect them through synergic actions, the result of an active collaboration between artists and naturalists.

Artistic residencies will be organised in which national and international artists will be invited to spend a period of time in the field, which will be equipped with temporary structures to accommodate them, and in which works will also be created in situ.
Internationally renowned and emerging artists - each confronted with a local naturalist who can suggest a path and sustainable creative solutions - will realise synergetic works of environmental art. By this definition we mean the desire not to create works of art simply produced with natural/sustainable materials, but the commitment to produce creations that can coexist with and benefit the park's ecosystems.

Art will therefore be the main tool for enriching and making the natural area in question unique. The interventions will be temporary and totally reversible, able to live with nature and if necessary die in order to be reborn year after year.

Art as a real habitat, as an integral part of nature.
The works conceived in this way will contribute to making the area a place for cultural exchange and scientific dissemination, a context for young and old, for residents and occasional users, the curious and connoisseurs of the subject.

PAN BELUS aims in the future to grow in size and become a network uniting various territories in the Marecchia Valley in a single corridor of conservation and creation.
