CHI SIAMO

Due studenti del corso di Media Design e Arti Multimediali di NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) Milano. Vogliamo realizzare un cortometraggio comico che possa essere considerato anche un film d’autore, ovvero farvi ridere ma anche riflettere. Con tematiche legate alla amicizia d’infanzia e tossica.

Siamo Sam Bateson (regista) e Aldo Toscani (montatore) e questo è “Tuffo a Bomba”.

SINOSSI

Manuel è un bagnino 45enne che lavora da sempre in una piscina frequentata da pochissimi bagnanti. Un giorno un signore fa un tuffo a bomba di fronte a lui, è Gabriel, il migliore amico d’infanzia del bagnino. Non vedendosi da almeno 30 anni, i due iniziano a parlarsi, ma si rendono conto di non condividere nulla tranne per la loro infanzia. Decidono di riallacciare i rapporti facendo scherzi ai bagnanti come quando erano piccoli, ma purtroppo non basta a farli tornare migliori amici.

Il cortometraggio da qui in poi prende una piega surreale a metà tra l’incubo e la realtà in cui i due personaggi verranno costretti a rivivere la loro adolescenza in cui si sono separati, con tanto di figure mostruose e strane prove di coraggio.

NOTE DI REGIA

Questo cortometraggio, interamente ambientato all’interno di una piscina, è molto legato alla comicità d’autore. Nella prima metà la storia sarà focalizzata su una comicità “leggera” molto nello stile di Aki Kaurismaki, per poi prendere direzione completamente assurda e sopra le righe nello stile di Monty Python.

Il cortometraggio illustrerà il rapporto tra due amici che è andato a spegnersi con l’adolescenza con ironia e assurdità.

I PERSONAGGI

MANUEL: il protagonista, assolutamente insoddisfatto della sua vita da bagnino. Depresso, con poca autostima, un vero incapace e fifone.

GABRIEL: co-protagonista, CEO di una mega azienda ultra importante, ma non lo diresti mai considerato il suo poco intelletto e modi estremamente maleducati.

BUDGET

Il cortometraggio sarà autofinanziato da studenti e, attraverso questa piattaforma, cercheremo i fondi necessari per coprire spese extra come trasporti attrezzature e affitto location, se possibile speriamo che questi fondi possano anche aiutarci nella distribuzione per festival Italiani e internazionali.

WHO WE ARE

Two students of the Media Design and Multimedia Arts course at NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) Milan. We want to make a comedy short film that can also be considered an auteur film, that is, make you laugh but also think. With themes related to childhood and toxic friendships.

We are Sam Bateson (director) and Aldo Toscani (editor) and this is “Tuffo a Bomba”

SYNOPSIS

Manuel is a 45-year-old lifeguard who has always worked in a swimming pool frequented by very few swimmers. One day a gentleman does a bomb dive in front of him, it is Gabriel, the lifeguard's childhood best friend. Having not seen each other for at least 30 years, the two start talking, but they realize that they have nothing in common except for their childhood. They decide to reconnect by playing pranks on the swimmers like when they were kids, but unfortunately it is not enough to make them best friends again.

From here on, the short film takes a surreal turn halfway between nightmare and reality in which the two characters will be forced to relive their adolescence in which they separated, complete with monstrous figures and strange tests of courage.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES

This short film, set entirely inside a swimming pool, is very much linked to auteur comedy. In the first half, the story will focus on a "light" comedy very much in the style of Aki Kaurismaki, and then take a completely absurd and over the top direction in the style of Monty Python.

The short film will illustrate the relationship between two friends that ended with adolescence with irony and absurdity.

THE CHARACTERS

MANUEL: the protagonist, absolutely dissatisfied with his life as a lifeguard. Depressed, with low self-esteem, a real incompetent and coward.

GABRIEL: co-star, CEO of a mega super important company, but you would never guess considering his little intellect and extremely rude behaviour.

BUDGET

The short film will be self-financed by students and, through this platform, we will look for the necessary funds to cover extra expenses such as equipment transport and location rental, if possible we hope that these funds can also help us in the distribution for Italian and international festivals.
