SOSTIENI LA CAROVANA DEL PROGETTO REC

Cosa succede in un territorio dove la guerra è silenziosa da più di 70 anni? 

Palestina, 2022: la giornalista Shireen Abu Akleh perde la vita nel campo profughi di Jenin. Tra le voci più incisive di Al Jazeera, ha denunciato le violenza dell’oppressione israeliana e il suo impatto sulla vita dei territori occupati. Questo è solo l’ennesimo esempio di quanto sia complicato raccontare la situazione dei Territori palestinesi, dove dalla fondazione dello Stato di Israele viene portato avanti un programma di pulizia etnica a discapito del popolo palestinese con la complicità delle potenze Occidentali. Una situazione di difficoltà evidente che impedisce ad un popolo sotto occupazione di far sentire la propria voce, mentre gli interlocutori restano troppo spesso sordi. 

L’escalation di violenza, le continue incursioni militari in Cisgiordania e i ciclici bombardamenti nella Striscia di Gaza vengono da anni giustificati in chiave antiterroristica, la quale permette ad Israele di violare qualsiasi forma di legge internazionale sui diritti umani, non solo rimanendo impunito ma anche raccogliendo crescente consenso. Civili, donne e bambinə - non terroristə - sono però le reali vittime dietro questa narrazione propagandistica. 

Progetto Ricerca e Cultura (REC) nasce da qui. Nasce da qui la volontà di vedere con i nostri occhi e mettere in luce quali siano la reali condizioni di vita in Palestina. REC un progetto che attraverso la ricerca e il teatro vuole indagare le necessità e i bisogni del popolo Palestinese per supportarlo sulla base delle reali esigenze della popolazione e al contempo raccontare le prospettive e le rivendicazioni di un popolo sotto assedio e sempre più isolato. 

A Dicembre partiremo quindi in direzione di Gaza per lavorare nei campi profughi della Striscia, luoghi dove le condizioni di vita sono estremamente precarie ma anche da cui le più recenti rivendicazioni politiche come la Marcia del Ritorno hanno avuto origine. 

Sentiamo come nostro dovere mostrare solidarietà e supportare un popolo martoriato da anni di guerra silente pagata a caro prezzo.  

Di seguito, una breve descrizione dei progetti: 

​TEATRO

In un contesto come quello della Striscia di Gaza, in cui i teatri sono sotterrati da imposizioni e macerie e gli spettacoli visti come inconvenienti, devianti, pericolosi, il progetto nasce per condividere un’idea di teatro come modo per conoscere se stessə e lə altrə, come strumento di scambio e crescita, come mezzo per raccontare storie e tramandare ideali, come momento di creazione ed espressione delle proprie passioni. Attraverso il teatro è possibile esplorare le proprie emozioni e condividerle con gli altri, creando una rete che per un momento è in grado di unire persone diverse, in questo caso persino di nazionalità e culture differenti.

Vogliamo sperimentare l’esperienza teatrale a 360 gradi, includendo tutte le sue parti dalla creazione del concept dello spettacolo, alla stesura della sceneggiatura, alla regia e alla recitazione, all’attrezzismo, al macchinismo e alla realizzazione delle scenografie; condividendo e basando ogni passaggio sulla partecipazione organica dellə ragazzə gazawə che comporranno il gruppo e la compagnia. 

Insieme aə ragazzə abbiamo scelto di rappresentare una rivisitazione dell’Odissea omerica poiché, oltre ad essere una pietra miliare della poesia mediterranea, racchiude alcune tematiche significative nella storia e nella tradizione palestinese come la tenacia e la determinazione, la speranza, la devozione, l’amore per la propria famiglia, l’ospitalità e l’essere profughi. 

Dato il carico del progetto e i pochi giorni di permanenza a disposizione della carovana, abbiamo iniziato il lavoro in questi mesi precedenti alla partenza tramite incontri online lə ragazzə gazawə, la condivisione di materiali e lo svolgimento di alcuni laboratori di approfondimento sull’interpretazione e sui contenuti dell’opera. 

Abbiamo realizzato un questionario a domande aperte per lə ragazzə sull’interpretazione dell’Odissea con il fine di attualizzare le tematiche trattate e lasciare più spazio possibile alla loro lettura dell’opera e dei suoi argomenti; abbiamo costruito un gruppo di scrittura con alcunə dellə ragazzə che si sta occupando della stesura del copione, a cui seguirà la l’ideazione e costruzione effettiva delle scene, con l’inserimento anche di altre forme d’arte come la danza, il canto o la pittura, a seconda delle diverse altre passioni dellə ragazzə; mentre le prove si terranno in presenza nella Striscia. 

Abbiamo inoltre iniziato a progettare le scenografie che verranno realizzate in loco con altrə bambinə e ragazzə di alcuni campi profughə, poiché rappresentano per noi un ambito sociale e relazionale che non può essere trascurato nella realizzazione del progetto.

Quello che vogliamo raggiungere con questo progetto è una crescita individuale e collettiva data dall’incontro e dallo scambio di persone e culture differenti, la possibilità di condividere le proprie capacità e i propri talenti con lə altrə con un obiettivo comune, e la possibilità di conoscere se stessə e lə altrə attraverso l’espressione delle proprie emozioni e passioni.

RICERCA

Il gruppo ricerca si concentrerà nel lavoro all'interno di tre campi profughə situati a nord, nel centro e a sud della Striscia di Gaza.

La volontà è quella di ascoltare, imparare e valorizzare una storia di lotta e resistenza, che da decenni caratterizza il popolo palestinese.

Il lavoro di ricerca si pone un doppio obiettivo.

Da un lato, ascoltare le voci, i bisogni e le idee deə Palestinesə di Gaza, dall’altro, attraverso un ciclo di interviste che realizzeremo nella Striscia, provare a riportare in Italia qual è stata l'evoluzione della lotta palestinese per la propria terra, e le convinzioni che la muovono.

Per questo, il progetto si declinerà in due filoni:

1. Un’analisi del bisogno elaborata in loco, per identificare le tematiche socio-economiche sulle quali vi è urgenza di intervenire con progetti mirati al sostegno della popolazione.

L’idea nasce dalla volontà di sviluppare progetti che rispondano alle reali necessità esposte da chi quotidianamente vive la Striscia di Gaza piuttosto che da una visione esterna e distaccata.

2. Una ricerca sul tema del Diritto al Ritorno, volta a comprendere se e come il concetto del Diritto al Ritorno si sia tramandato ed evoluto all'interno della Striscia di Gaza attraverso le generazioni.

Questa parte vedrà la sua realizzazione in un ciclo di interviste divise per generazioni, partendo dallə over 60 fino allə giovani gazawə, con l'obiettivo di pubblicare un libro tornatə in Italia.

Per poter entrare a Gaza e rimanerci il periodo necessario almeno all’avviamento dei progetti, ABBIAMO BISOGNO DEL VOSTRO SOSTEGNO!

ALL THE VOICES OF GAZA SUPPORT PROJECT REC

What happens in a land where war has been silent for more than 70 years?

Palestine, 2022: the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh is assassinated in Jenin’s refugee camp. One of the most influent voices of Al Jazeera, she used to denounce the Israeli violence and its impact on the livelihoods in the Occupied Territories. This is yet another example of how complex it is to denounce the current situation in Palestine – a place where, since the foundation of Israel, an ethnic cleansing of Palestinian population with the complicity of Western powers. They find themselves in a stifling condition that prevents a population under siege to be heard by interlocutors that simply won’t listen.

The escalation of violence, the recurrent military incursions in West Bank, and the constant bombings in the Gaza Strip have been justified for many years with an antiterrorist scheme. In turn, this has allowed Israel to violate every form of International Law on human rights, while remaining unpunished but also gathering increasing support for its foreign affairs policy. Behind such a propaganda, however, it's not terrorists being killed, it's civilians, women, and children.

Project Research and Culture (REC) builds on this foundation, spurred by the willingness to witness first-hand the real conditions in the Palestinian territory and shed light on the issue. Research and Culture is thus a project that uses research and drama with the  aim to investigate the real needs of the Palestinian population.  In December we will therefore travel to the Gaza Strip to work in the refugee camps - places where livelihoods are extremely vulnerable but also where the most recent political claims,like the Great March of Return, first started. We feel the duty to bring solidarity and support a war-torn community that for decades has endured a silenced conflict at a very high cost. Below is a brief description of the activities:

DRAMA /THEATRE

In a context like the Gaza Strip, where theaters are buried in impositions and rubble and shows are considered inconvenient, deviant and malicious, this project has the aim to share an idea of theater as a way to get to know oneself and the others, as a means for sharing and growth, as a way to tell stories and transmit values, as a moment of creation and expression of one’s passions. Through theater people can explore their feelings and share them with other people, creating a web for a moment in which different people, in this case also from different lands, get connected. 

We would like to experience the theatrical activities from a 360 degrees perspective, including all of its parts from the creation of the spectacle concept, to the writing of the script, to the directing and the acting, to the toolmaking and the creation of the scenography; sharing and basing every passage on the participation of the gazawi guys that are going to form the group and the company. 

Together with the guys we decided to represent the Homeric Odyssey because, as well as being a milestone in Mediterranean poetry, it holds some themes significant in Palestinian history and tradition, like the perseverance and determination, hope, devotion, the love and affection for the family, hospitality and the condition of a refugees.

Because of the few days at the disposal of the caravan to stay, we started to work in these months preceding the departure through a series of online meetings with the Gazans, the sharing of materials and some workshops about the interpretation of the play and its contents. 

We created a questionnaire with open questions for the Gazans about the interpretation of the Odyssey in order to actualize the themes handled in the play and to create the performance based on their perspective about the Odyssey and its contents. We created a writing group with some of the guys that is dealing with the drafting of the script, and then we’ll go on with the conception and creation of the effective scenes, with the inclusion also of other artforms like dancing, singing or painting, according to the different passions of the group, while the rehearsal will be held in presence in the Strip.

Besides, we started projecting the scenography that will be created on site with other children and teenagers in the refugee camps of the Strip, since for us they represent a social environment that cannot be neglected in the realization of this project. 

With this project we would like to reach an individual and collective growth, the meeting of different people and cultures, the possibility of sharing one’s skills and talent with the others with a collective perspective and the possibility of learning how to understand ourselves and the others through the expression of our feelings and passions.

RESEARCH

The research-related group will be concentrating on three refugee camps located in the north, in the middle and in the south of the Gaza Strip. 

The will is to listen, to learn and to highlight a story of fight and resistance, that has characterized Palestinian people for decades. 

The research-related activity is double aimed: on one site the goal is to collect as many diverse Palestinian voices, needs and views as possible, on the other hand the objective is to try and report in Italy, through a cycle of interviews that we will carry out in the Strip, what has been the evolution of Palestinian struggle for their land and the beliefs that has driven it so far. 

To do so, the project will comprise two streams: 

an analysis of the demand developed on site, in order to identify the socio-economic issues that need the urgent intervention of specific projects aimed at social aid. The idea stems from the desire to develop projects that respond to the real needs expressed by those who live in the Gaza Strip on a daily basis, rather than an external and detached view.

an investigation on the theme of the Right of Return aimed at understanding if the notion of Return has been transmitted and has evolved through the different generations and how it has been interpreted. This activity will see its realization through a series of interviews divided according to different generations, starting from the over 60s to the young Gazans, with the perspective of publishing a book once the caravan has returned to Italy.
