Questo libro racconta, attraverso la forma artistica della fotografia, la storia di dolore che si nasconde nei luoghi dominati dalla colossale Diga del Vajont.

Il mio obiettivo è stato immortalare la bellezza ferita del paesaggio per dare voce alle vittime silenziose di questa tragedia.

Ogni foto va oltre ciò che vediamo e diventa simbolo di un sentimento più profondo che ci conduce alla radice dell'evento.

Con un budget di 3000 euro, sarò in grado di coprire i costi di produzione e di pubblicazione del libro, garantendo la massima qualità artistica ed editoriale.

IL PROGETTO

Vajont - La fine di un'epoca è un’opera multimediale composta da un testo narrativo, un reportage fotografico, una composizione originale per chitarra classica ed un video musicale.

Il testo ed il reportage fotografico fanno parte del libro da pubblicare, la musica, invece, fa da colonna sonora al cortometraggio.

Il progetto nasce dalla composizione del brano per chitarra sola: La fine di un’epoca. Il sottotitolo di questa composizione è: Alle vittime del Vajont. Il brano è stato premiato con la menzione speciale al Concorso Internazionale di composizione M. Pittaluga nel 2016 ed è pubblicato per le edizioni UtOrpheus, all'interno della raccolta “Canzoni del focolare” https://www.utorpheus.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=3344

Nel 2023, anno del sessantesimo anniversario della tragedia, ho seguito un workshop fotografico con Pierpaolo Mittica nelle zone di Longarone, Erto, Casso e della diga Vajont. Una volta visionate le foto di quei giorni, sono stato da lui invitato a completare il progetto abbozzato.

Mi sono così addentrato negli anfratti più impervi della montagna, spingendomi fin sotto la base della diga, ho esplorato il bosco vecchio ed il fronte di frana che ancora conserva i segni del tragico evento. Ho avuto la fortuna di poter parlare con gli abitanti del posto e di entrare in confidenza con alcuni dei sopravvissuti i quali mi hanno aperto la porta della loro casa e raccontato la loro storia.

Da subito mi sono reso conto che queste persone, dopo sessant’anni, sentono ancora profondamente la necessità di trasmettere agli altri la loro memoria, quasi fosse il loro miglior riscatto. Vive in loro il desiderio di far capire quale sia il rapporto tra l’UOMO, il SUO PROSSIMO e l’AMBIENTE, per generare in ognuno di noi il senso del RISPETTO PER GLI ESSERI VIVENTI.

In questo libro ho raccontato la tensione, il dolore e la privazione subita da questa popolazione, ma anche l’amore per la propria terra, l’attaccamento alla vita ed il desiderio di conservare le proprie radici e con il vostro aiuto vorrei poterlo pubblicare.

ABSTRACT

Con questo progetto fotografico dedicato alla tragedia del Vajont ho cercato di rappresentare un mondo irrecuperabile in cui il tempo non è stato vissuto, gli oggetti sono scomparsi, le vite sono andate perdute. Attraverso un’energia disumana che ha bruscamente annientato il passato ed aperto un varco verso l’ignoto, in pochi istanti si è venuto a creare un salto dimensionale in cui vittime e sopravvissuti hanno visto concludersi un’epoca. Le foto, attraverso l'accompagnamento del testo narrativo, descrivono la diga come il limite, spaziale e temporale, al di là del quale tutto muta, cambiando significato e direzione. La diga viene rappresentata come confine tra gli opposti che governano l’esistenza. Il progresso diventa stento e disperazione, la forza cinetica si trasforma in tensione statica e disorientamento, tutto ciò che dovrebbe portare vita restituisce morte. Di fronte all'ineluttabilità del Fato, non resta che sopportare il peso dell’esistenza, aggrappandosi a ciò che è possibile afferrare. Alcuni sono costretti a rimanere spettatori per sempre, altri riescono a trovare una nuova luce che aiuti i posteri a non commettere gli stessi irreparabili errori.

IL VIDEO

SINOSSI

Il cortometraggio racconta, attraverso l'uso simbolico delle immagini, quanto accaduto la notte del 9 ottobre 1963 alla diga dal Vajont. Il tessuto narrativo si sviluppa utilizzando elementi materiali e naturali presenti nel territorio che oggi si mostrano come risultato della trasformazione dinamica sviluppata dallo scivolamento del Monte Toc all'interno del bacino idrico. La musica per chitarra, da me composta e suonata, ha il compito di condurre lo spettatore attraverso le fasi della narrazione: la costruzione della diga per il dominio dell’acqua; la rottura degli elementi naturali; il ribaltamento delle prospettive per cui l’acqua che doveva essere fonte di vita ora restituisce morte; la diga che diventa il limite prima e dopo il quale ogni elemento si trasforma nel suo opposto; l’arrivo di una nuova alba che svela ferite insanabili e lascia ai sopravvissuti un’eredità vuota, in cui ogni istante del proprio passato risulta confinato in una dimensione parallela e irraggiungibile.

CHI SONO

Sono un COMPOSITORE, INTERPRETE, PITTORE E PERFORMER, nato a Vittorio Veneto nel 1977. Ho iniziato la mia formazione artistica diplomandomi in chitarra classica. Nel 2000, in seguito all’insorgere di una malattia neurologica chiamata distonia focale, ho cominciato come autodidatta lo studio della composizione, al quale ho affiancato la ricerca grafica e pittorica. Da questo momento in poi ho sviluppato e incentrato la mia attività artistica sulla SINESTESIA, attraverso la creazione di OPERE MULTIMEDIALI in cui MUSICA E COLORE E MOVIMENTO possono coesistere in armonica simbiosi.

INTRODUCTION

This book tells, through the artistic form of photography, the story of pain that is hidden in the places dominated by the colossal Vajont Dam.

My goal was to immortalize the wounded beauty of the landscape to give voice to the silent victims of this tragedy.

Each photo goes beyond what we see and becomes a symbol of a deeper feeling that leads us to the root of the event.

THE PROJECT

Vajont - The end of an era is a multimedia work composed of a narrative text, a photographic reportage, an original composition for classical guitar and a music video.

The text and the photographic reportage are part of the book to be published, while the music is the soundtrack of the short film.

The project was born from the composition of the piece for solo guitar: The end of an era. The subtitle of this composition is: To the victims of Vajont. The piece was awarded a special mention at the M. Pittaluga International Composition Competition in 2016 and is published by UtOrpheus editions, within the collection “Songs of the hearth” https://www.utorpheus.com/index.php ?route=product/product&product_id=3344

In 2023, the year of the sixtieth anniversary of the tragedy, I followed a photographic workshop with Pierpaolo Mittica in the areas of Longarone, Erto, Casso and the Vajont dam. Once I had viewed the photos of those days, I was invited by him to complete the sketched project.

I thus entered the most impervious ravines of the mountain, pushing myself to the base of the dam, I explored the old forest and the landslide front which still retains the signs of the tragic event. I was lucky enough to be able to talk to the locals and to get to know some of the survivors who opened the door of their house to me and told me their story.

I immediately realized that these people, after sixty years, still deeply feel the need to pass on their memory to others, as if it were their best redemption. Living in them is the desire to make people understand what the relationship is between MAN, HIS NEIGHBORS and the ENVIRONMENT, to generate in each of us a sense of RESPECT FOR LIVING BEINGS.

In this book I have told the tension, the pain and the deprivation suffered by this population, but also the love for their land, the attachment to life and the desire to preserve their roots and with your help I would like to be able to publish it.

ABSTRACT

With this photographic project dedicated to the Vajont tragedy I tried to represent an irretrievable world, where time could not be lived, objects vanished and lives were lost. An unhuman energy destroyed the past roughly and opened a door towards the unknown. In a few minutes a gap of time was created. Through this gap victims and survivors saw the end of an age. The photos, accompanied by the narrative text, describe the dam as a limit of time and space. Beyond it everything changes its meaning and its direction. The dam is the border between the opposites, which rule the human existence.Progress turns into desperation and struggle, the kinetic force turns into static tension and disorientation, everything, that should bring life, returns death. In front of the inevitable fate we can’t help but endure the burden of the existence and seize what it is possible. Some people will be spectators forever. Others will be able to find a new light, which lets future generations avoid those past irreversible mistakes.

SYNOPSIS

The short film tells, through the symbolic use of images, what happened on the night of 9 October 1963 at the Vajont dam. The narrative fabric develops using material and natural elements present in the territory which today appear as the result of the dynamic transformation developed by the sliding of Mount Toc within the reservoir. The guitar music, composed and played by me, has the task of leading the spectator through the phases of the narrative: the construction of the dam to control the water;the breakdown of natural elements; the reversal of perspectives whereby the water that was supposed to be a source of life now returns death; the dam that becomes the limit before and after which each element transforms into its opposite;the arrival of a new dawn that reveals incurable wounds and leaves the survivors with an empty legacy, in which every moment of their past is confined to a parallel and unattainable dimension.

WHO I AM

I am a COMPOSER, INTERPRETER, PAINTER AND PERFORMER, born in Vittorio Veneto in 1977. I began my artistic training by graduating in classical guitar. In 2000, following the onset of a neurological disease called focal dystonia, I began the self-taught study of composition, alongside graphic and pictorial research. From this moment on I develop and focus my artistic activity on SYNESTHESIA, through the creation of MULTIMEDIA WORKS in which MUSIC AND COLOR AND MOVEMENT can coexist in harmonic symbiosis.
