Un gruppo indipendente di giovani artisti italiani; un gruppo di indie-rock siciliano; una delle più grandi opere di land-art al mondo e un piccolo, coraggioso paese sempre in prima linea per non farsi dimenticare.
Unire land art, danza e musica è lo scopo del progetto “The Dance of the Living Stones”, un’idea per raccontare in modo creativo l’immagine del territorio siciliano e un pezzo di storia d’Italia.
Con la collaborazione del Comune di Gibellina, vogliamo realizzare un video di teatro-danza presso il Grande Cretto di Burri, opera che sorge sulle ceneri di quello che era il paese di Gibellina prima del terremoto del 1968, dove tutto andò distrutto.
Questo breve video introduttivo serve a rendere un’idea, il più possibile fedele, del lavoro che intendiamo svolgere al Cretto di Burri durante la prima settimana d’agosto del 2016. 
Abbiamo la pretesa di voler realizzare un’opera d’arte totale che sposi musica, danza, teatro, scultura e land art.

Descrizione del progetto

Luogo simbolo di un evento drammatico, il Cretto si afferma, in questo progetto, come monumento di un’eterna rinascita, della liberazione da un passato di sofferenza. In “The Dance of the Living Stones” il Cretto, da monumento statico, si rivela infine teatro dinamico. La metamorfosi dei corpi danzanti e il parallelismo tra micro e macrocosmo rappresentano il fulcro di questo lavoro, che si propone di valorizzare un’opera troppo poco conosciuta approfittando del centenario della nascita del suo autore e del completamento e futuro restauro dell’opera stessa.
Come potete vedere dal video preparato per spiegare l’idea, i performers, ricoperti di argilla crettata, emergeranno dal Grande Cretto. 
La danza racconterà il dialogo tra il nuovo e il vecchio, i corpi emergeranno sia dalla parte nuova, bianca, sia da quella antica, grigia e ormai coperta di vegetazione, e si incontreranno in un turbinio di movimenti spezzati e contrastanti per giungere infine all’armonia. 
Quest’enorme zolla di cemento, che ricorda la pelle delle anziane signore locali, cela anch’essa un’antica sofferenza: il terremoto della valle del Belice, da cui la popolazione, finita la lunga fase di cordoglio, ha appena iniziato a prendere le distanze.
Ecco perché la nostra coreografia mira a raccontare un giorno di magia in un "teatro" silenzioso, lontano da tutto e da tutti. L’obiettivo di questo progetto è ridare vita, far risorgere anche solo per pochi attimi le anime dalle macerie del terremoto, per celebrare la conclusione di quest’opera di cristallizzazione dello spazio iniziata più di trent’anni fa. 

Questo evento è necessario anche a documentare una fase effimera dell’opera di Burri, un momento di passaggio. Il Cretto è stato appena concluso e verrà presto restaurato. Tutto assumerà un colore omogeneo, bianco, nuovo. Il video servirà dunque a documentare anche questo momento di transizione, simbolo di estremo saluto; il restaurò inizierà infatti poche settimane dopo la conclusione delle riprese.

An independent group of young Italian artists; a Sicilian indie-rock band; one of the greatest land-art works in the world and a small, fierce town always fighting to keep its memory alive.
Combining land-art, dance and music is the ultimate goal of “The Dance of the Living Stones”, a project born to illustrate the image of Sicily and a piece of Italian history in a creative way.
In collaboration with the town of Gibellina, we want to shoot a tanztheater (theater-dance) video set in Alberto Burri’s Grande Cretto, a land-art work rising on the ruins of the old town of Gibellina flattened by the devastating 1968 earthquake of Belice.

The short teaser shown here gives you an idea of the video we want to shoot at the Cretto during the first week of August 2016. Our goal is to realize a complete and “total” art project mixing music, dance, theater, sculpture and land-art.

Project description 

The Cretto, a gigantic clump of concrete reminding the skin of the elderly women who live in this area of Sicily, has always been considered a symbol of a tragedy: in this project it wants to be a place of rebirth instead, freeing the town of Gibellina from its sad past. In “The Dance of the Living Stones”, the static land-art work will become dynamic, with dancing bodies and music celebrating the way too-little-known art masterpiece by Alberto Burri.
As shown in the teaser, dancers will be covered in liquid clay and will emerge from the Cretto following an amazing choreography. Dance will embody a dialogue between the new and the old, the present and the past, narrating the history of this very specific and amazing part of Sicily.
Our choreography aims at illustrating a day of pure magic and life in a huge, silent theater, away from everything and everyone. We want to resuscitate, even for just a minute, the lost souls and the spirit of Gibellina taken away by the earthquake almost 50 years ago.

This work is necessary also to provide documentary evidence of a significant moment in Italian art history: the Cretto has just been completed after more than 30 years, and it will soon be restored. The first (and older) grey part will be blended with the more recent white one, giving this land-art work a new homogeneous look.

Un groupe indépendant de jeunes artistes italiens ; un groupe d’indie rock sicilien ; l’une des plus grandes œuvres de land art du monde et un petit, mais courageux pays toujours en première ligne pour rester gravé dans les mémoires.
Conjuguer land art, danse et musique, tel est l’objectif du projet « The Dance of the Living Stones », une façon créative de présenter le territoire sicilien et de raconter un fragment de l’histoire italienne.
Avec la collaboration de la Commune de Gibellina, nous entendons enregistrer un spectacle de théâtre-danse au Grande Cretto di Burri, qui s’élève sur les cendres de ce qui était le village de Gibellina avant le dévastateur tremblement de terre de 1968.
Cette courte présentation vidéo donne une idée, la plus fidèle possible, du spectacle que nous souhaitons organiser au Cretto di Burri durant la première semaine d’août 2016.
Nous avons la prétention de réaliser une œuvre d’art complète alliant musique, danse, théâtre, sculpture et land art.

Description du projet
Lieu symbolique d’un événement dramatique, le Cretto s’impose ici comme l’emblème d’une renaissance éternelle, de la libération d’un passé de souffrance. Dans « The Dance of the Living Stones », le Cretto passe du statut de monument statique à celui de théâtre dynamique. La métamorphose des corps qui dansent et la mise en parallèle entre micro et macrocosme constituent le pivot de ce travail, qui se propose de valoriser une œuvre trop peu connue en profitant du centième anniversaire de la naissance de son auteur et de l’achèvement et restauration future de l’œuvre elle-même.
Comme le montre l’extrait vidéo du projet, les performers recouverts d’argile craquelée surgiront du vaste Cretto.
La danse évoquera le dialogue entre présent et passé, les corps jailliront tant de la zone nouvelle, blanche, que de la zone ancienne, grise et désormais tapissée de végétation, et se mêleront en un tourbillon de mouvements saccadés et contraires, avant de parvenir à une harmonie finale.

Cette gigantesque chape de ciment, qui rappelle la peau des vieilles femmes des environs, recèle une souffrance qui remonte à des années en arrière : le séisme de la vallée du Belice dont la population, après une longue phase de douleur, commence tout juste à se remettre.
Notre chorégraphie entend donc relater une journée magique dans un théâtre silencieux, loin de tout et de tous. Ce projet a pour but de redonner vie, de ressusciter, ne serait-ce que quelques instants, les âmes victimes des ravages du tremblement de terre, pour célébrer l’achèvement de cette œuvre de cristallisation de l’espace entamée il y a plus de trente ans.

Cet événement servira aussi à documenter une phase éphémère de l’œuvre de Burri, une phase de transition. À peine terminé, le Cretto sera bientôt restauré. L’ensemble revêtira une couleur homogène, blanche, fraîche. La vidéo permettra ainsi de témoigner de cette phase de transition symbolisant un adieu : la restauration débutera en effet quelques semaines seulement après la fin du tournage.

Eine unabhängige Gruppe junger italienischer Künstler; eine sizilianische Indie-Rock-Band; eines der größten Land-Art-Projekte weltweit und eine kleine, starke Stadt, die fortwährend darum kämpft, ihr Gedächtnis zu bewahren…
Land Art, Tanz und Musik zu kombinieren, ist das Bestreben von "Der Tanz der lebenden Steine" – ein Projekt, das ins Leben gerufen wurde, um das Bild Siziliens und ein Stück der Geschichte Italiens auf kreative Art nachzuzeichnen.
In Kooperation mit der Stadt Gibellina wollen wir in Alberto Burris "Grande Cretto" ein Tanztheater-Video drehen, in diesem Land-Art-Werk, das sich über den Ruinen der Altstadt von Gibellina erhebt, die beim Erdbeben von Belice im Jahr 1968 komplett zerstört wurde.

Dieser Teaser gibt einen kurzen Eindruck von dem Video, das wir in der ersten Augustwoche 2016 im "Cretto" drehen wollen. Unser Ziel ist, ein umfassendes künstlerisches Projekt zu verwirklichen, in dem sich Musik, Tanz, Theater, Skulptur und Land Art vereinen. 

Projektbeschreibung

Der "Cretto" ist eine riesige Anhäufung von Beton, der in seiner Struktur an die Haut der alten Frauen erinnert, die in dieser Gegend von Sizilien leben. Er gilt als Symbol der Tragödie von Gibellina. In "Der Tanz der lebenden Steine" wird er zum Ort der Wiederauferstehung, die Stadt Gibellina wird von ihrer traurigen Vergangenheit befreit. Die künstlerische Arbeit bricht die Statik des "Cretto" auf, macht ihn dynamisch, mit tanzenden Körpern und Musik, die das viel zu wenig bekannte Meisterwerk Alberto Burris feiern.
Wie im Teaser zu sehen, werden die Tänzer mit flüssigem Lehm eingehüllt, um sich dann in einer eindrucksvollen Choreographie aus dem "Cretto" zu erheben. Ihr Tanz verkörpert den Dialog zwischen neu und alt, Gegenwart und Vergangenheit. Er erzählt die Geschichte dieser einzigartigen Landschaft Siziliens.
Unsere Choreographie soll einen Tag purer Magie und puren Lebens nachzeichnen, in einem gewaltigen, aber stillen Theater, weit weg von allem und jedem. Wir wollen, wenigstens für den Moment einer Minute, die verlorenen Seelen und den Geist von Gibellina wiederbeleben, die bei dem Erdbeben vor fast 50 Jahren hinweggerissen wurden.

Unser Projekt dokumentiert zugleich einen bedeutenden Moment italienischer Kunstgeschichte, ist Zeitzeuge: der "Cretto" wurde nach mehr als 30 Jahren gerade fertiggestellt und soll bald restauriert werden. Dabei wird der erste (und ältere), ergraute Teil an den neueren, weißen Teil angeglichen. Das Ergebnis wird ein homogenes Erscheinungsbild sein.
